The Manager’s "Talk Story Page"
Aloha mai Kakou…
The past months have offered me a time to promote camaraderie, to invite and support new ideas, and to meet challenges of the unknown with excitement. I relish and look forward to the unknown and personal satisfaction in meeting it successfully.
What’s happening?
Let’s start with the Road Maintenance:
The mower is up and running. It took some time to get the mower in working condition. We still have a few concerns with the articulating arm. We’ve ordered a new cutting barrel to help balance and lessen the vibration on the mower. Please be patient with us a bit longer as we develop/create a forecast/schedule notifying you of when you can expect the mower on your road.
Grading and rolling the cross roads continues…tough rain/water problems and pot holes continue. We endeavor to meet the demands of our lot owners.and will answer and log your maintenance calls as they arise.
Loeffler Construction is in our “house” working on Phase 3 of our roads project. They are preparing Kaloli, Paradise and Maku’u. Then they will overlay Shower, Kaloli, Paradise and Maku’u. The intersection radii will follow soon after. Expect Phase 3 to last six to eight months, provided weather conditions cooperate.
We have sent notices to corner lot owners informing them of our new driveway By-law. The new By-law change requires new homeowners on corner lots to align their driveway to the crossroad/numbered road and not onto the arterial major roads such as Maku'u, Paradise, Kaloli and Shower.
Included in this notice, was information regarding owners’ responsibility for the Albezia trees that hang precariously into our roadways/neighbors lots and how homeowners should address these safety issues emanating from their properties.
Dumping of Personal rubbish and abandoned vehicles is still an ongoing problem. What do we? How can we encourage those who do this sort of thing to take their rubbish to the Kea’au or Pahoa Transfer Station?
News on the Activity Center:
We continue to rent the activity center for special events. Our Commercial Kitchen permit is still pending, and we look forward to approval within the next couple of months, Planning Commission decision permitting.
Upcoming events at the HPP Center:
HPPOA General Membership meeting scheduled for the 28th of February , 3 pm in the Activity Center. Everyone invited.
Closing;
No matter which road , paved or unpaved, speed remains our top concern. Please, Slow down! Be Maka'ala (alert) . Drive with care.
Let us malama aina (take care of our land)…malama pono (take care) each other…
A hui hou, (until next time)
